firewire input??

Postby Sweaver » Wed Mar 25, 2009 7:22 pm

I would like to mix several digital video feeds into a pc via firewire.

The input digital video is from 3 camcorders which I want to connect to the pc via firewire...I understand from reading other topics on this forum that I would thus need 3 separate firewire cards...otherwise if i connect all 3 camcorders into 1 firewire it will only recognize one of the camcorders only.

Once the 3 camcorder feeds are fed into the VJ..there it will be mixed with titling etc..

Once it is mixed..then what is the outputs that can be achieved??

Can the mixed feed be recordered on to the harddrive and if yes what compression can eb achieved?? mpeg2 etc..

Also can the mixed feed be streamed live as it is being mixed in VJ??

And finally what is better software or hardware based mixing? and any advice as want to mix feeds from several cameras for documentary/interview work?

thanks in advance..
