stretching desktop in windows7 ?

Postby nick c » Thu Apr 30, 2009 8:59 am

has anyone tested or know if it is possible to stretch the desktop across multiple monitors in windows7?

I aplied for the beta of windows7 to late, so i have not been able to see if windows7 will allow stretching of the desktop across multiple monitors, in the same way that XP can.

i have been waiting to upgrade my computer, but i cant use the vista platform to achieve 4-6 outputs.

cheers

Hey Nick
Had a wee hunt through Win7 and AMD/Nvidia forums.
Win7 currently does not support desktop stretching.
This affects gamers ($$$) as well as us, so hopefully this will be addressed before its release.

Indeed, as Windows 7 is almost a VISTA, the desktop stretching is no more present

this is what happens when microsoft has to dumb it's products down for the average retarded user, and trys to make the interface look nicer, because people think the the mac interface is better.

apart from windows7 not haveing desktop stretching, i have heard that win7 handles SSD drives better. giveing a longer life span for the drives.

It looks like desktop stretching is finally back on Windows7.
Here's a pdf of ATI video card whitepaper on multiscreen setups.

I think Nvidia is doing something similar.
