Laptop Lounge wants YOUR demo!

Postby Laptop Lounge A&R » Fri Jan 30, 2009 6:40 pm

Some years ago we asked ourselves "What will entertainment be like into the 21st century?". Laptop Lounge was our answer:

"A platform for electronic artists to showcase their talent and creativity"

Laptop Lounge is a monthly audio-visual art event here in the Scottish capital, where artists perform both in the space and into the space from locations as diverse as Stockholm, Berlin and Sydney. The event is simultaneously broadcast outwards on the internet for all to enjoy.

The club attracts enthusiastic attendance and positive coverage in the popular press, which is good for us and good for aspiring talent. Which brings us to...

We are putting out a call for additional exciting performers!

We are interested in artists who work with video and/or audio using laptops. Additional instruments, for example: the human voice, Monome, electric fiddle, MPC, custom devices etc. are also allowed. The event lends itself to minimal setups.

Our call has no target demographic or age range; it is very inclusive (and let’s face it electronic art production and performance isn’t always). So we particularly invite contributions from those who may feel excluded e.g. women, the young, the old, those with disabilities etc

There are no restrictions on genre but you must be capable of performing live. If you have a question about what constitutes ‘performing live’, please drop us an email and we will be happy to discuss it.

If you create and have perhaps thought of performing, or if you are already an experienced artist, why not send us an email telling us a bit about yourself and what you do?

Turn On. Boot Up. Zoom Out.
There is no wheelchair access at The Voodoo Rooms and this Venue is over 18s – we’re sorry.
However, please note there is no age restriction on fed-in performances.

Previously at Laptop Lounge......performances from regional and international video artists such as Cosmic Dust, Doctor Chop, Mosaic and duo No Input. Musically we have had the pleasure of hearing many signed and released artists such as The Wee DJs, Isodyne, Lektroid, Pixelmechanic, Kasbah, Cymbol, Macrostructure, Psience & Elektrochick.
