position mapping

Postby kalloth » Tue Jun 09, 2009 9:08 pm

is there any way that layer positions could be mapped using pixel numbers instead of percentages;

ie instead of mapping a layer to x position 13.78 etc could we map the layer position like this top left 0,200 bottom right 300,500

its easy for projector driven systems but for led screens ran through triple head to go's its a nightmare, i have a 3 screen system and one of the screens only accepts a 32x528 pixel section of one of the 1024x768 outputs while arkaos is outputting on a 3076x768 becaus of the triple head to go, mapping with percentages is a nightmare

at this resolution 32 pixels is 3.125% and 31 pixels is 3.027344%

0.00001% increments should be accurate enough for most applications.
For example 128x24pixel led wall mapped pixel for pixel with total output resolution of 800x600 would have an size x value of 0.125 and size y value of 0.04% (addressable led panels)
