Triggering Alpha Channel footage Repeatedly

Postby VJKatza » Fri Apr 09, 2010 1:33 pm

Hello Arkaos!

I experience a problem while triggering reapetedly a "quicktime footage with alpha channel embedded".
while pressing a key repeatedly on my MPD / NANO which contains an alpha channel footage, after few presses arkaos get crashed. I installed arkaos grandVJ on another different computer and problem still exists.
my settings are: GRAND VJ MIXER MODE [1.2 / 1.2.1] PC
problematic footage is "QUICKTIME - ANIMATION PRESET 32bits+ ALPHA CHANNEL"
All other quicktime footage which doesn't contain alpha channel behave OK while triggering repeatedly.

1 more small bug: when there is no audio device enabled over the computer (like when my USB AUDIO DEVICE isn't connected) probgram get crashed while choosing file --> prefrences.

I have exactly the same problem and I'm working with Mac.

MacBook Pro
Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and 10.6.3 (get the same problem)
Arkaos 1.2.0 - 1.2.1 - 1.2.2

Could you tell if the file's handled by Quicktime or FFMpeg player in GrandVJ (Visuals tab)?

Could you download and test last 1.2.2?

Is it possible for you to provide a link to a small video file that could help me reproduce the problem?

I think we've already fixed the no-audio-preferences-crash issue in MediaMaster but it still needs to be done in GrandVJ.

Anyway, I'm adding your remarks into the to-be-checked list.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I uploaded a test file for testing, the file is handled by FFMpeg player in GrandVJ
The file is Quicktime 32bits+Alpha Channel (animation preset 90 percent quality)

As i investigated there are couple of things that maximizing the chance of crashing (tested on two totaly different computers with windows 7 64bits, mixer mode, GVJ 1.2.2)
1- the file should be configured as "play once" and automatically assigned over a layer (layer 4 for me)
2- one or two other footage are triggered onto layers (layer one & two)
3- an effect should be applyed on a layer (for me most of the time "bass zoom 2"on empty layer 8, with background music making the effect behave)
After that, pressing repeatedly over and over that file (keyboard assigned button or midi assigned button),a couple of fast presses makes the crash apear (sometimes even after 20 fast repeated presses)
As I also investigated I found out that in most cases it crashes (but not always) on those alpha files which are less the 1 second in lentgh (like 15 frames)

This thing stoped my shows couple of times... :(
